Pools seek Williams replacement

Hartlepool will be without on-loan forward Luke Williams for their home game against Torquay.

The 20-year-old has returned to parent club Middlesbrough, so boss Colin Cooper may turn to either James Poole or on-loan Manchester United winger Jack Barmby to fill the void, the latter extending his spell at the club this week.

Michael Duckworth will play no part after sustaining a leg injury in his comeback match last week. The left-back was forced off after 11 minutes having returned from a double hernia operation, but X-rays have confirmed there is no fracture.

Fellow defender Neil Austin remains doubtful due to the toe injury which has kept him out for five matches.

Torquay hope to have captain Lee Mansell available for the long trip north.

The 31-year-old midfielder missed the 1-1 draw with Burton on Tuesday evening with a knee injury but having had an anti-inflammatory injection he hopes to return to training ahead of the clash with Pools.

But his regular midfield partner Joss Labadie will miss out once more as he completes a two-match suspension for accumulating 10 yellow cards this season.

The Gulls, rock-bottom of the Football League, head to Victoria Park looking for another away win having beaten AFC Wimbledon and Portsmouth on their travels since Chris Hargreaves took charge.
