Baldwin banned for Pools

Hartlepool defender Jack Baldwin starts a two-game ban and will miss the visit of Scunthorpe.

Baldwin received his 10th booking of the season in the midweek defeat at AFC Wimbledon and with Jordan Richards sitting out the final game of his three-match ban, boss Colin Cooper is thin on defenders.

Full-back Michael Duckworth remains sidelined as he recovers from a double hernia operation, so Sam Collins is among those pushing for a place in the starting line-up.

Striker James Poole is expected to miss his fifth game due to a hamstring injury, while recent Manchester United loan signing Jack Barmby is pushing for his first start for the club.

Scunthorpe boss Russ Wilcox could name an unchanged starting line-up as his side bid to regain top spot.

Wilcox has no new injury or suspension worries following the goalless midweek draw against Fleetwood, which saw Chesterfield leapfrog them in the table.

Striker Deon Burton (calf) could be sidelined for up to six weeks after scans confirmed the full extent of the calf injury sustained at Dagenham last week.

Paul Hayes stepped in alongside Sam Winnall up front on Tuesday night, but recent signing Paddy Madden is pushing for his first start for the club following three substitute appearances. Andy Dawson (hip), Andy Welsh (knee) and Matt Godden (ankle) remain sidelined.
