Dolan blow for Pools

Hartlepool will be without Matty Dolan for the home game against Rochdale following the midfielder's return to parent club Middlesbrough.

Boss Colin Cooper must decide whether to recall Simon Walton or Antony Sweeney to fill the gap, but he could be boosted by the possible returns of both Jack Compton and Jordan Richards.

Winger Compton has been sidelined due to a calf injury and defender Richards has made a quicker-than-expected recovery following a double hernia operation. Both players appeared for the reserves in midweek.

Pools will be hoping to improve on their recent run of just one win in their last seven League Two games.

Rochdale defender Michael Rose will return to contention following suspension.

Right-back Rose missed Dale's FA Cup win against Leeds due to a one-game ban and was replaced by Rhys Bennett, so manager Keith Hill must decide who to start with on Saturday.

Hill, who has no new injury or suspension problems, is not expected to make too many changes following last weekend's impressive display, but midfielder Gary Dicker is pushing for a recall after missing the last five games due to an unspecified injury.

Striker George Donnelly is also hoping to be back in action. He recently returned from a long-term ankle injury but was an unused substitute against Leeds.
