Duo set for Pools bow

Hartlepool's new loan signings Scott Harrison and Connor Oliver are expected to go straight into the squad for the home game against Cheltenham.

Centre-half Harrison and midfielder/defender Oliver were both signed from Sunderland ahead of Thursday's deadline and could make their debuts as Pools look to bounce back from their midweek home defeat to Mansfield.

Midfielder Simon Walton returns to contention after sitting out a one-game ban, while defender Michael Duckworth returned to the starting line-up on Tuesday night following a leg injury.

Defender Neil Austin (toe) and midfielder Andy Monkhouse (hamstring) remain sidelined as Pools bid to bounce back from two straight defeats.

Cheltenham look set to be without experienced defender Steve Elliott.

The 35-year-old picked up an ankle problem in the 2-0 defeat to Scunthorpe on Tuesday night and looks likely to sit out the long trip north.

One player who looks set to feature is Coventry midfielder Billy Daniels who arrived on an initial 28-day loan on Thursday. The 19-year-old has made 33 appearances for the Sky Blues this season and could step straight into the starting line-up.

Manager Mark Yates is also likely to have Wolves loanee Michael Ihiekwe back in his squad after he missed that match with tonsillitis.
