Hartley worry for Pools

Hartlepool defender Peter Hartley faces a race to be fit in time for the televised home clash with promotion hopefuls Brentford.

Centre-half Hartley has been struggling with a knee injury this week, but manager John Hughes has no other new injury concerns.

Pools, relegated in midweek following Oldham's win over Yeovil, are chasing a third straight league win.

Midfielder Antony Sweeney and defender Evan Horwood, named on the bench at Tranmere last week following respective hamstring injuries, are both pushing for recalls.

Teenage defender Jordan Richards remains sidelined with a knee injury, while goalkeeper Andy Rafferty continues to build up his match fitness following knee surgery last summer which has kept him out all season.

Pools have lost only one of their last nine league games at Victoria Park.

Brentford will be without Tony Craig and Clayton Donaldson.

Defender Craig starts a three-match ban which will rule him out of the final two matches of the season, and the first leg of the play-offs if Brentford are involved, after he was sent off at Sheffield United on Tuesday.

Brentford appealed against the red card but the FA upheld the decision on Thursday.

Striker Donaldson was dismissed for two yellow cards in the same game and serves a one-match ban.

Skipper Jonathan Douglas rested a knock in midweek and could return while fellow midfielder Harry Forrester is fit after a groin injury.

The Bees are a point behind Bournemouth in second with two games to go.
