Harrison off as Crawley beat 10-man Hartlepool

Hartlepool remain without a home win in over two months after going down 2-1 to Crawley at Victoria Park in Sky Bet League Two.

For the visitors, this was a welcome third away win of the season to ease the pressure on boss Mark Yates.

Crawley were in control throughout, and took a firm grip of the game in the second half as Scott Harrison was sent off for blocking a Rhys Murphy shot on the line with his arm.

Midfielder Simon Walton, a former Pools player, stepped up to send Trevor Carson the wrong way from the penalty spot, before Murphy finally got on the scoresheet when he turned in a pass from Gwion Edwards on 76 minutes.

The game looked to be sealed, but Pools' skipper Billy Paynter headed in Jason Banton's corner on 80 minutes to offer late hope to the home fans.

In five minutes of added on time, Pools defender Magnus Okuonghae headed a corner inches wide as Crawley held on to leapfrog their opponents in the table.
