Austin predicting positive season

Defender Neil Austin insists Hartlepool`s poor pre-season form does not mean they are set for another struggling season in League One. United were held 1-1 by York on Saturday in their final friendly before next weekend`s big kick-off, a draw which was the latest in a string of disappointing results over the past few weeks. A worrying lack of new faces has only added to concerns held by some fans, but Austin told the Sunday Sun: "We will pick up from the defeats, no-one wins anything in pre-season. "We don't read too much into what has been happening. We have been playing a different system, with three strikers up top, and let's hope we can work harder and be better for it. "The results aside, preparations have been good. We have had good runarounds, but that was about all we could take towards it. "No-one wins a Championship in July. You can have a bad pre-season yet go into the league programme flying. This sort of thing has happened before so you can't really read anything into it."
