Austin `back in the frame'

Hartlepool defender Neil Austin could make his return from injury in Saturday`s home clash against Exeter. Austin, who picked up an ankle problem in the opening-day draw at Rochdale, played an hour for a strong Pools reserve side on Wednesday afternoon as they saw off Scunthorpe 2-0. After the game, coach Micky Barron told the club`s official website: "You know what to expect from Neil, he`s a whole-hearted player who gives his all in whatever game he plays and he certainly did that for us here. "We know he`s an important player in the squad for us so it was great to see him come back and get those minutes under his belt and put himself back in the frame." Austin made the bench for last Saturday`s 1-0 defeat at MK Dons but remained an unused substitute.
