Hansa and Duisburg drop down

11 May 2008 - 11:16:05

Hansa Rostock and Duisburg both suffered relegation from the Bundesliga as they went down to defeats at home to B Leverkusen and Bayern Munich respectively.

Rostock lost 2-1 to Leverkusen, while Duisburg were unable to recover from an early three-goal deficit at home to champions Bayern, eventually going down 3-2.

The final relegation spot will be decided on the final day of the season, with Arm Bielefeld and Nurnberg the two teams in danger.

Nurnberg looked set for the drop as they lost 1-0 at Hertha Berlin, but a late own goal meant that Bielefeld only drew 2-2 at home to Borussia Dortmund, when a win would have made them safe.

Energie Cottbus ensured their survival with a 2-0 home win over Hamburg, with Stiven Rivic and Dennis Sorensen netting the crucial goals for Bojan Prasnikar's side.

Werder Bremen remain on course to finish second in the table after a 6-1 thrashing of Hannover in the Weserstadion, while Schalke are still in contention after edging out Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0.

Reigning champions Stuttgart were thrashed 4-0 at Wolfsburg, having had Fernando Meira sent off just 18 minutes into the game.

Bochum ran out 3-1 winners at Karlsruhe, with all three of their goals coming in the first five minutes of the second half in the Wildparkstadion.
