Reid issues Accies warning

Hamilton Academical manager Billy Reid has warned his players that they now need to work even harder to retain their places in his side.

The Accies chief further bolstered his options on transfer deadline day with the capture of former Hibs defender Martin Canning on a free transfer.

Midfielders Stephen Ettien and Michael Videira plus defender Chris Casement had already arrived at New Douglas Park before the transfer window closed.

"There is more of a challenge so players need to work hard to make themselves first choice," Reid told the Hamilton Advertiser.

"If they're not performing to the best of their abilities, there's a guy behind them who will.

"Everybody who is here will be given an opportunity, but it's important that we have numbers and we're fairly happy with the squad.

"But they're going to have to earn the right to play at this football club."
