Reid happy to snap up Skelton

Hamilton Academical boss Billy Reid is delighted to have tied up the signing of Kilmarnock midfielder Gavin Skelton.

The 29-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the Accies following his exit from Rugby Park and Reid is confident that Skelton will be a useful addition.

He told the Hamilton Advertiser: "Towards the end of the season, with Brian Easton out, I felt we lacked a wee bit of balance on the left-hand side, so we brought Gavin in to balance things up a wee bit.

"I know he's the right type, he's got a point to prove and he wants to show that he's an established SPL player.

"When Gavin was at Gretna I thought he was outstanding.

"I remember watching him in the Scottish Cup Final against Hearts and thinking he was the best player on the park."
