Reid expects McCarthy stay

Hamilton Academical boss Billy Reid is confident that teenage sensation James McCarthy will not be leaving the club until next summer at the earliest.

The 18-year-old is being tracked by a number of top clubs across Europe, with Barcelona showing a major interest in the midfielder according to McCarthy's agent.

However, Reid is certain that any deal will have to wait until the end of the season.

He said: "McCarthy has been outstanding this season. He has been absolutely sensational in the SPL and that speculation will never go away.

"The one thing I guarantee is that he won't be leaving in January; he will be here until the end of the season at least.

"We will sit down with James and see where we are, but it's no surprise there are big-name clubs looking at him."
