Hamilton Academical midfielder Alex Neil is on course for a quicker than expected return to action after a hip operation.
The 31-year-old has been sidelined since the end of last season and had been expected to be sidelined until the turn of the year.
However, Accies boss Billy Reid confirmed: "We are hoping he will be back sooner than expected.
"We have to take it carefully after his hip operation, but we are almost certain he will be back some time in November.
"We are hoping it's the start of November rather than the end of November. Things are looking good in terms of his progression.
"He is a big player for me. It would be massive for us to have him back. We've had new players in the door and he's the captain.
"He has played a huge part for the younger players as well and is a big, big factor in what we are trying to achieve at the club."
