Reid accepts Ibrox defeat
09 Mar 2009 - 14:14:45
Hamilton Academical boss Billy Reid refused to blame injuries for his side's Scottish Cup exit to Rangers.
Accies had to play with ten men for most of the second half after Brian Easton, Mark McLaughlin and David Elebert picked up injuries in the first period before Richard Offiong had to be substituted shortly after the restart.
But speaking after the 5-1 quarter-final defeat at Ibrox, Reid said: "The injuries weren't the reason why we lost the game. Rangers were better than us and deserved to win.
"It was an eventful day for us all. We lost three players to injury in the first 45 minutes.
"In the second half we went down to ten men when Offiong hurt his knee.
"I asked my players to take responsibility on the ball and they did that, even at ten men, they tried to keep it.
"But there was no way we were going to win the game."
