Neil enjoys mixed return

Hamilton Academical skipper Alex Neil was disappointed that his return to action ended in a 2-0 defeat at Falkirk.

The 28-year-old midfielder lasted 64 minutes of the reverse at the Falkirk Stadium, having been plagued by hip problems for several months.

He told the Daily Record: "I've only played 45 minutes since St Mirren away last April, so there's mixed emotions. I'm disappointed more with the final result.

"When you are out you wonder how you'll fit back in, because obviously someone has taken your place. I thought I did myself no harm in the first half, showing the gaffer he's missed me.

"It just didn't seem to fall for us. We might have been 3-0 up at the break, but the boys didn't take their chances.

"We're not worried about the way we're playing. I think anyone here would have agreed we acquitted ourselves fairly well."
