Lyle injury woe upsets Reid

Hamilton Academical midfielder Derek Lyle is set to miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury in the goalless draw with Falkirk.

The 28-year-old sustained cruciate knee ligament damage in the opening minute of the game and now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Accies boss Billy Reid said afterwards: "It was ligament damage that will keep him out for the season. He's had it scanned and most definitely the season is over for him.

"My heart goes out to Derek Lyle and his family, he has worked really hard to get himself in to the shape he is in.

"I'm devastated for the lad because he has been a stalwart for me, but has been in and out of the team.

"For the first time since he came to the club he has nailed down a position and he has played in the last three or four games and for that to happen is gutting for him."
