Imrie welcomes new deal

Dougie Imrie admits he jumped at the chance of a new two-year deal with Hamilton after impressing for Accies in the second half of last season's campaign.

Imrie joined the Lanarkshire club for £25,000 from Inverness in the January transfer window and proved to be an immediate hit by earning himself several man of the match performances in his 16 SPL appearances.

His contract extension keeps him at New Douglas Park until May 2013, and he said: "The manager (Billy Reid) was a big influence. I came from Inverness in January and things have gone so well."

He added: "There are not many deals about at the moment so to get another two years on my contract is fabulous. It's always good to be recognised as doing well.

"When the manager spoke to me after the season had finished, it didn't take me long to sit down with my agent and get the deal done.

"I'm just glad everything is tied up and I can concentrate on playing for Hamilton next season."
