Accies reject Pompey McCarthy bid

Hamilton Academical have rejected a written offer from Portsmouth, thought to be around £500,000, for 18-year-old star midfielder James McCarthy.McCarthy, PFA Scotland's Young Player of the Year, made his first-team debut for Hamilton at 16 and has two years left on his contract. Accies chairman Ronnie MacDonald told BBC Scotland: "Portsmouth made a formal offer but it didn't meet our valuation. "Having looked after him this far, we are happy to continue to do so."
