Imrie signs new Hamilton contract

Hamilton Academical forward Dougie Imrie has signed a new two-year-deal with the Lanarkshire club.The former Clyde and Inverness man, who signed for Accies on 1 February, made 16 appearances in the second half of the season, scoring twice. [LNB]And Imrie said he jumped at the chance of extending his stay at New Douglas Park under manager Billy Reid. [LNB]"The manager was a big influence. I came from Inverness in January and things have gone so well," he said. [LNB]"There are not many deals about at the moment, so to get another two years on my contract is fabulous. It's always good to be recognised as doing well.[LNB] "His influence on the team at the end of the season was quite remarkable. Hamilton manager Billy Reid "When the manager spoke to me after the season had finished, it didn't take me long to sit down with my agent and get the deal done. [LNB]"I'm just glad everything is tied up and I can concentrate on playing for Hamilton next season." [LNB]Reid expressed delight at signing Imrie until May 2013. [LNB]"The start he has had has been sensational," said Accies' manager. "He has had so many man of the match performances and they have been thoroughly deserved. [LNB]"His influence on the team at the end of the season was quite remarkable. [LNB]"We already had a decent team and good players, but he has brought something up front, he has scored goals and he has been involved in almost everything we did in terms of making goals. [LNB]"I've always admired him as a player. The influence he has had has been fantastic and he has been rewarded with a new two-year contract, which keeps him at the club for three years."
