Hamilton unchanged for Ross County visit

Hamilton have named an unchanged squad for the visit of Ross County in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Michael Devlin (ankle) and Danny Redmond (knee) were both involved with Accies' Under-20s side in midweek and are close to competing for their first senior appearances of the season.

Darren Lyon remains a couple of weeks away from a comeback after knee surgery.

Hamilton goalkeeper Michael McGovern is set to continue in goal and team-mate Lucas Tagliapietra believes he deserves a big summer move.

But the big Brazilian defender just hopes the Northern Irishman, out of contract at the end of the season, decides to stay put at Accies.

Tagliapietra said: "We all know Mikey is magic. He is a good keeper. Of course every centre-back wants to have a Mikey behind him.

"We know he is working hard and gets what he deserves. But I'd also like it if he stays here.

"It's great having someone like him in the team. He is a leader and gives us security. I feel safe with him in the side.

"I have played with some good goalkeepers in my career but here, Mikey is the captain. He has different qualities as well as experience. He passes that on to us and that's great for a young player like me."

Michael Gardyne believes Ross County are approaching a make or break period of the season.

Despite winning only one of their last five matches, County can leapfrog Accies into fifth place in the table with a win on Saturday.

After that is a trip to Partick and then home games against Dundee and Kilmarnock, with all three teams below the Staggies in the table but currently within striking distance.

The 29-year-old former Dundee United midfielder, back after an ankle injury which has kept him out for almost a month, conceded that those fixtures could be key to which way the season goes for the Highland club.

"We know we need to be winning more games," he said.

"We have spoken about that in-house and we feel that in the games coming up we could do that.

"All the teams we are facing are teams that think they can get top-six as well and if we want to make the top-six these are games that we need to be winning.

"The next four/five games are going to be massive, it could make or break the season, really.

"Hamilton are always going to be good. They have the artificial pitch, they have good players who can play good football so I am sure it will be a hard game."

Gardyne is glad to be back after a frustrating period on the sidelines after going over on his ankle in training during the international break in November.

"I've been out for three or four weeks and obviously it didn't come at a good time," he said.

"I think I was doing all right but now it is good to be back. I played an under-20s game the other day and I am looking forward to getting back with the boys.

"You take so many kicks in games and then you do it in training, which was frustrating.

"I am back a week earlier than I was meant to be so that is good news and I am in contention which is great."

Striker Brian Graham is the only absentee (groin) for the Staggies while goalkeeper Scott Fox continues to work towards a first-team return after his ankle ligament tear.
