Tagliapietra sidelined for Hamilton

Hamilton defender Lucas Tagliapietra has been ruled out of the squad to face Ross County at New Douglas Park.

The January signing is again struggling with an ankle injury ahead of the Scottish Premiership clash.

Young forward Andy Ryan is still out with a groin problem but defender Jesus Garcia Tena returns after suspension.

Winger Dougie Imrie insists they are approaching the top-six run-in with relish despite their recent struggles.

Accies are in danger of slipping out of the top half of the table following a run of nine games without victory.

But Imrie is determined to start picking up again to ensure their excellent form in the first half of the season has the rewards it merited.

Accies begin their run-in with a home game against County, who are on a run of four consecutive wins.

"It's four games we are really looking forward to," Imrie said. "It's four games that we need to pick up points if we want to finish in the top six.

"We have Ross County then Motherwell next week in the derby, then St Johnstone is going to be a massive game, and then we finish with Dundee United. They are all hard games but games we are looking forward to."

Hamilton had a free weekend last week and player-boss Martin Canning took the opportunity to take them on a trip to the English Football Association's new training centre at St George's Park in Burton.

And Imrie believes it was a much-needed break to integrate the players with the new coaching staff who came in after Alex Neil and Frankie McAvoy left for Norwich.

"The facilities were excellent and it was good that the team together and had a couple of days away," Imrie said.

"It's always good to get away and get to know the new boys. We hadn't really had time to get to know them. It was good to get the boys together and have a laugh. It was worthwhile."

Ruben Palazuelos (groin), Richard Brittain (hamstring), Ben Frempah (ankle) and Darren Barr (knee) are set to remain on the sidelines for County.

Manager of the month Jim McIntyre has warned his players that Hamilton will be using the Staggies' turnaround in fortunes as inspiration.

Their fine run has got County off the bottom of the table but they could slip back down into the relegation zone if they lose against Accies.

McIntyre said: "The players' feet are firmly on the ground. We know hard work has got us good results and that has got to continue.

"We have done a lot of things well but it's only four matches and I think everyone should remember that.

"It's going to be another tough one down at Hamilton. They are on a run similar to what we have just come out of. We know they have got good players, they have already beaten us twice this season.

"They will be desperate to get back on the winning trail themselves so that's enough warning if anyone needed one."
