Hamilton hold off resilient Morton

Jon McShane scored twice as 10-man Hamilton survived a late Morton fightback to win 4-3.

Hamilton went ahead after 16 minutes when Peter Weatherson diverted the ball into his own net and the lead was doubled thanks to McShane's emphatic finish.

McShane made it 3-0 six minutes after the break, sweeping home Simon Mensing's cross and the provider turned goalscorer 12 minutes later with an unstoppable 30-yard drive to seemingly wrap up a comfortable win for Hamilton.

Morton were given a lifeline 20 minutes from time when Alex Neil was dismissed for his second booking in five minutes following two fouls on Peter MacDonald.

And the visitors got on the scoresheet after 78 minutes when Mensing put the ball in his own net.

They got a second five minutes later thanks to Darren McGeouch's drilled effort and Derek Young smashed home from 20 yards one minute from time but Hamilton held on.
