Crawford downs Partick

Ali Crawford's extra-time goal gave Hamilton a 1-0 Scottish Communities League Cup second-round victory over Partick.

With the score locked at 0-0 after 90 minutes, Crawford fired in an unstoppable effort from 35 yards with 17 minutes of the additional period gone and that proved decisive.

Both sides had chances to win the game in normal time as Partick's Chris Erskine and Kris Doolan both tested Accies keeper Kevin Cuthbert while James Keatings and Crawford shot off target for the hosts.

Keatings thought he had won it for Hamilton in injury time but his 20-yard effort went wide, meaning that an additional 30 minutes required.

And it was Crawford's moment of brilliance with 107 minutes on the clock which decided the tie and sent Hamilton through to the third round.
