Partick maintain Morton pursuit

Partick continued their push for promotion with a 2-0 win at Hamilton.

The Jags went into the game having failed to register a victory at New Douglas Park since 2006, and it was the hosts who had the better of opening exchanges.

The Accies enjoyed the majority of the possession throughout the first half but failed to find a breakthrough and they were made to pay a minute before the break.

An outswinging corner from the left by Ross Forbes was met by Conrad Balatoni at the near post and his header went into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.

In the second half, Billy Reid's side continued to dominate possession without finding a way through Partick's defence.

And the visitors made sure of victory after 84 minutes when substitute Christie Elliot's strike found the top right-hand corner of the goal from 18 yards out to leave the Jags just two points behind league leaders Morton with two games in hand.
