Hamburg and Werder Bremen remained burdened by relegation worries after the northern Germany rivals drew 2-2 at the Volksparkstadion.

Michael Gregoritsch gave hosts Hamburg the lead with a header from Lewis Holtby's cross in the third minute, but Fin Bartels levelled just 10 minutes later.

Gregoritsch struck again in the 28th minute, but Serge Gnabry's strike on the stroke of half-time proved enough to earn Bremen a point.

As a result, they continue to hold a four-point advantage over their local rivals, who are still without a win and have just four points after 12 games of the Bundesliga season.
