Ruud boost for Bundesliga

Bayern Munich midfielder Mark van Bommel has welcomed the arrival to the Bundesliga of compatriot Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The 33-year-old has joined Hamburg on an 18-month deal from Real Madrid and van Bommel is excited to see his fellow Dutchman heading to Germany.

He told Bild: "Ruud is a world-class striker as long as he's fully match-fit. He really adds something to Hamburg and I think that they will be a lot stronger with him.

"It's great for the Bundesliga that a high-profile name such as van Nistelrooy has joined Hamburg. This will only improve the quality of the German league.

"Ruud signed for HSV because he wants regular first-team football again. He could make a return to Holland's national squad if he impresses, he's still a class act."
