Czech Republic midfielder David Jarolim has signed an extended contract to keep him at Hamburg until the summer of 2012.
The 29-year-old has been at the Nordbank Arena since 2003, having previously made his name with Slavia Prague and Nurnberg.
Jarolim told the club's official website: "I am very happy here and in the past few years things have always got better and better.
"I am proud to be part of their development."
Hamburg head coach Martin Jol added: "He has shown that as captain he is a role model and I am very happy that he is staying with us."
Jarolim has made well over 150 league appearances for his current club and represented his country at the World Cup finals in 2006 and the European Championship finals last summer.
