Jansen staying at Hamburg

Hamburg defender Marcell Jansen has committed his future to the Bundesliga side, despite reported interest from Liverpool.

Jansen featured for Germany at the World Cup finals in South Africa and scored in the third-placed play-off victory against Uruguay.

It is thought that new Liverpool coach Roy Hodgson was ready to make a bid for him, but his agent has said Jansen will stay at his current club.

Speaking to Hamburger Morgenpost newspaper, Gerd vom Bruch said: "The interest in him is a credit to Marcell.

"But he is under contract with Hamburger SV and will be respecting this."
