Hamburg suffer Silva blow

Hamburg defender Alex Silva has been ruled out for at least eight months with knee ligament damage.

The Brazil international ruptured his cruciate ligament during a pre-season friendly clash with Wacker Innsbruck.

The match was part of Hamburg's training camp in Austria.

"Alex will be out of action for eight to ten months," revealed Hamburg team doctor Oliver Dierk.

Dutch winger Romeo Castelen made his own comeback from injury in the match after 18 months on the sidelines.
