Guerrero pens new contract

Hamburg have announced that star striker Paolo Guerrero has penned a new four-year contract at the Nordbank Arena outfit following Armin Veh's arrival in the managerial hot-seat.

The Peruvian hitman missed the side's final five games of the season after he threw a bottle of water at a fan after the 0-0 draw against Hannover on April 4.

However, with his contract set to expire, he will now remain at the club until the summer of 2014.

He said: "I am very happy that I will continue to play for Hamburg. Hamburg has in recent years become my second home.

"The last few months have not been easy for me but I have gained confidence from the support of my team-mates."

Veh, who was appointed as Bruno Labbadia's successor on Monday, added: "I am very happy that Paolo has extended his contract.

"I am confident he will play a major role for us as there are not many strikers around with his quality."
