Guerrero fined for no-show

Hamburg manager Armin Veh has told the press that the club will fine Jose Paolo Guerrero after he failed to report for pre-season training.

The Peruvian striker, who missed the end of last season after throwing a bottle into the crowd following a goalless draw with Hannover, is no stranger to controversy and Veh has taken a hard stance with him as he stamps his mark ahead of the new Bundesliga campaign.

Speaking to reporters, he said: "He called me up to say he would be coming later this afternoon.

"I don't believe everything people say - there are Brazilians who get stuck in snow-drifts preventing them from returning and they don't even call.

"I don't want to make a big deal out of this. They simply have a different culture, but we don't have to accept it. Paolo will have to pay a fine for that."
