Halifax Town manager Chris Wilder refused to be too downcast after watching his side crash to a shock 4-2 home defeat to mid-table Barnet on Saturday.
The Shayman had been beset by off-field problems in the build-up to the game but Wilder refused to use them as an excuse for his side's performance.
Last week the players had deferred bonus payments in a bid to help the club financially.
"People are going to suggest that it was something to do with the build-up," Wilder told the Halifax Courier.
"It hasn't been ideal, but I am being the chairman of the fairly obvious club saying that.
"It has been a very difficult week for the club, the players and myself. Off-the-field activities have possibly overshadowed the preparations.
"But we have been on a fantastic run and the players have nothing to be ashamed of. To win eight games on the bounce at any level of football is a tremendous achievement.
"We have lost one game in nine and we are still in a great position. A lot of teams would be envious of our position and it is now a matter of how we bounce back at Scarborough on Saturday."
