Season over for Bolland

Grimsby Town midfielder Paul Bolland's pre-season knee injury will sideline the midfielder for a year, it has been revealed.

The initial prognosis for Bolland after the injury sustained against Oldham Athletic was for a three-month recovery period.

However, recent scans have revealed cruciate ligament damage, one of the most serious injuries a knee can sustain.

"It still hasn't sunk in yet - I was completely shocked when I found out yesterday," Bolland revealed to the Grimsby Telegraph.

"I knew I had done some damage to my cruciate - I learned that after seeing a consultant in Grimsby last week.

"But I never expected this, it rules me out for the season at least."
