Grimsby Town boss Graham Rodger singled out two-goal hero Gary Jones after his side secured a vital three points with a 2-1 win against Hereford United on Sunday.
Jones put the Mariners ahead after just nine minutes at Blundell Park, but the Bulls hit back to level on 26 minutes thanks to Rob Purdie's penalty kick.
However, Jones grabbed his second on 69 minutes to hand the hosts maximum points which stretches the gap between themselves and the relegation places to four points.
Rodger said: "It was a very important result in the larger scheme of things. It was also a very good performance."
On Jones, he added: "He played as we know he can play and he showed a great technique for his first goal."
