Paterson thanks Mariners

Former Grimsby Town loanee Martin Paterson has revealed that a return to Blundell Park this season was never really on the cards.
The 20-year-old netted six goals in 15 games for the Mariners last season, but has joined Scunthorpe United this summer after leaving Stoke City.
He told the Evening Telegraph: "Grimsby will always be good for me because I went there, scored a few goals, and got recognised.
"I was 19 at the time, went to play regularly and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was a good experience.
"I'm very close to the manager, Alan Buckley. I speak to him quite often, just about football matters really and he's good to get advice off.
"He was very good for my progression, but there wasn't really much chance of me going back there. I want to play as high as I possibly can."
