Grimsby Town manager Mike Newell doesn't believe that Robbie Fowler will now be joining the League Two club. The Mariners made an approach to the Blackburn Rovers striker earlier in the month regarding a potential player-coach role. But Newell's does not expect the former England striker to arrive at Blundell Park. He said: "To me it's finished. If there was any glimmer of hope it's gone now." Meanwhile, Newell is hoping to make striker Adam Proudlock's loan move a permanent transfer.
