More surgery for Stockdale

Grimsby Town full-back Robbie Stockdale will attempt to end his injury nightmare by going under the knife for a second time.

A persistent hernia problem has kept the 29-year-old sidelined for almost four months and his recovery has been far more complicated than was anticipated.

Town physio Dave Moore confirmed: "Robbie's injury has been a really frustrating one and disappointing for everyone - not least Robbie himself.

"When he went for the original procedure to try to cure a groin problem, the prognosis was a lay-off of around four to six weeks at most. It's now been a lot longer.

"He said it still wasn't right so we sent him to see the same consultant in Leicester who operated and he's due for another operation this week. Then he needs to rest and, hopefully, that can help to cure it."
