    More draw misery for Mariners

    20 Feb 2010 - 17:32:33

The wait for a win goes on for Grimsby Town. The Mariners have now gone 26 games without a victory in all competitions after they threw away a 2-1 lead to draw 2-2 with Lincoln City at home.

Chris Herd opened the scoring for Lincoln after four minutes, but a brace from striker Lee Peacock meant that Grimsby were dreaming of that elusive win, before Brian Gilmour equalised on the hour for the Imps.

The comeback of the day was undoubtedly by Chesterfield at bottom of the league Darlington. The north-east side found themselves 2-0 ahead thanks to a double by in-form Tadgh Purcell, but goals from Simon Whaley, Drew Talbot and an own goal from Richie Byrne, all in the final ten minutes, meant that Darlington suffered yet more misery.

Burton Albion enjoyed a victory over Hereford in a seven-goal thriller at Edgar Street. Goals from Mark Pugh, Kenny Lunt and James McQuilken, all before the hour mark, were not enough for the Bulls, as Tony James scored a stoppage-time winner for Burton after goals from Shaun Harrad, Cleveland Taylor and Aaron Webster.

Accrington enjoyed a 2-0 home win over Bradford City, spoiling Peter Taylor's first match in charge of the Bantams. John Miles was the hero, with a second-half brace for Stanley.

Meanwhile, Aldershot suffered injury-time despair as Notts County midfielder Ben Davies found the net in the dying moments of the game, cancelling out Oliver Bozanic's 45th-minute goal for the Shots.

Northampton Town can consider themselves unlucky to come away from Gresty Road without at least a point, as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Crewe. Crewe's Ashley Westwood scored a brace either side of Ryan Gilligan and Adebayo Akinfenwa's goals for the Cobblers, but the all-important fifth goal of the game was netted by Crewe midfielder Simon Walton with little over 20 minutes remaining.

League Leaders Rochdale enjoyed an important 3-1 victory over Dagenham and Redbridge at Spotland. Tope Obadeyi opened the scoring after nine minutes, before the Daggers' Josh Scott equalised a minute later, but late goals from Gary Jones and Chris O'Grady condemned the Essex side to defeat.

Elsewhere, Barnet's John O'Flynn scored a brace to defeat Port Vale 2-0 away from home and goals from Julian Alsop and Matt Thornhill secured a good 2-0 win for Cheltenham at home to Morecambe.

In the other game in League Two, Bournemouth's Alan Connell scored a goal five minutes from time to win a point at home to Macclesfield after Nathaniel Brown had opened the scoring.
