Mariners move for Ravenhill

Grimsby Town have snapped up midfielder Ricky Ravenhill from League One side Doncaster Rovers.

The 25-year-old had recently been on loan at Chester City and had been expected to sign a permanent deal with the Blues, but Ravenhill has opted to move to Blundell Park on a two-year contract.

Ravenhill told the Mariners' official website: "I went on loan to Chester and things didn't work out.

"It seems that it is a blessing in disguise for me in the long run. I am far happier signing for Grimsby."

Ravenhill had been with Rovers since early 2002, helping the club to two promotions.
