Mariners looking to tempt Sweeney

Sweeney, 24, who has a year left to run on his Elland Road contract, made eight appearances for Grimsby while on loan at the end of last season and Mariners manager Mike Newell wants him back. Newell told his club's official website: "We'll do everything possible to try and persuade the player that is the place to come to play. "I know he enjoyed his time here. It was a successful time. He is a good lad on and off the pitch and has good ability. "I've said before he is a player I'm really keen on and would like to get him to Grimsby."
