Mariners end trialist interest

Grimsby Town have ended their interest in trialist defender Adam Green. The Woking full-back took part in a reserve game for the Mariners earlier in the week, but failed to impress manager Mike Newell. "We wanted to have a look at Adam but I'm not sure anything will happen there," he told the club's official website. Meanwhile, Tom Newey is set to make a swift return from a hamstring injury after the defender missed last weekend's defeat to Port Vale. "He felt his hamstring in training on Thursday and, hopefully, we have caught it in time and there is not too much damage," added Newell. "We are hoping he will be okay to train on Thursday."
