Keeper set for Mariners

Grimsby Town have agreed to sign former Coventry City and Rotherham goalkeeper Gary Montgomery.

The 24-year-old was released by the Millers following their relegation from League One last season and will complete a free transfer move to the Mariners after agreeing a one-year contract.

"I have agreed terms with Gary and we are just waiting for him to put pen to paper and complete a one-year deal," Town boss Alan Buckley told the club's official website.

"It's all sorted - it is just a matter of paperwork now and I am pleased to get him.

"As a youngster he was highly thought of and at 24 he still has a lot to offer.

"He has experience despite still being young for a keeper and I'm sure he will be a great asset to us."
