Grimsby Town forward Gary Jones has undergone another round of surgery to correct long-standing ankle problems.
The 33-year-old, who is out of contract with the Mariners, had already had an operation on his right ankle, but has now had a second bout of surgery on his left ankle.
He told the Evening Telegraph: "When I had my ankles x-rayed before the operation on my right foot, the doctors said that my left foot looked in a slightly worse state.
"I hadn't experienced any discomfort from that ankle so didn't think much of it.
"But the operation on my right one has gone so smoothly that I thought why not get the other one sorted? So I'm going in to have it done.
"If this operation goes as well, I should be in good shape for next season."
