Jones blow for Mariners

Grimsby Town defender Rob Jones faces a spell on the sidelines as he needs surgery on a knee injury.

The 24-year-old was injured in the 1-1 draw with Boston United and Marriners boss Russell Slade is downcast over the news.

He told BBC Radio Humberside: "It's not going to heal on its own, we might have to trim the cartilage.

"Certainly, they're going to have to open the knee up and have a look inside to see what's aggravating it and making it lock.

"From there, his rehabilitation will probably take about four weeks, so he could be out for about six in total."
