French striker Mickael Buscher has returned to Grimsby Town where he hopes to earn a permanent deal.
The 21-year-old, who has been without a club since featuring in 19 games for Gretna last season, had a brief trial at Blundell Park last month.
Buscher is a free agent but would not be able to sign for the club until the start of January.
Mariners boss Mike Newell told the club's official website: "I've seen enough to know that he's got something. We now need to get him fit."
