Grimsby Town boss Alan Buckley hit out at the performance of Premier League referee Mike Dean following Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Peterborough United.
The Merseyside official awarded Posh a controversial 80th-minute penalty after adjudging Peter Till had brought down Jamie Day in the box.
But a furious Buckley claimed the incident took place outside the penalty area and questioned the performance of the top-flight official.
"I have to be disappointed with their penalty decision. My players tell me the referee said the first contact was outside the box, but the second was inside," he said.
"Surely a free-kick should be awarded in that case?
"What hurts more is the fact we're capable of playing with so much quality, yet are really struggling to pick up results.
"It's absolutely soul-destroying to leave with nothing after dominating a lot of the game."
