Bolland happy with a lead
28 Feb 2008 - 07:29:50
Goal hero Paul Bolland described his delight at the 1-0 first-leg lead Grimsby Town earned themselves on Tuesday in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area final.
Tasked with defeating League Two rivals Morecambe for a place in the final alongside MK Dons, who beat Swansea in the Southern Area final, Bolland's 69th minute strike has taken Town halfway there.
The Mariners were indebted to a superb goalkeeping performance from Phil Barnes in a game which the Shrimps dominated but were unable to kill off.
"Barnsey was outstanding, as were the lads at the back, they had to be on their guard all night. I just tried to hit the target and luckily it went in. I was delighted to score," Bolland said after the match.
Looking forward to the second leg next Tuesday, Bolland said his team wouldn't take Morecambe lightly.
"They played some decent stuff at times and put us under pressure," he added.
"Going into it 1-0 up gives us a great chance, but we have 90 minutes of hard work ahead of us."
