Bird returns to Mariners

Grimsby Town youngster Matthew Bird has been forced to cut short his trial at Manchester United due to injury.
The 18-year-old defender had been invited to United's Carrington training ground this week in a bid to impress the Premier League giants but has now returned to Blundell Park.
Bird has managed only 90 minutes of competitive football all season after being troubled by a knee injury.
"Man United, like any other club, watch players at all clubs and at all levels," Town coach Neil Woods told the club's official website.
"They spoke to us and asked if he could go over there just to train with them to have a look at him.
"We don't want to put pressure on the lad. There's no talk of money or anything like that.
"It would give the boy a little bit of experience and an insight into how a big club works."
