Town boss keen to turn the table

Despite going down 2-1 at Bournemouth, Chester's 2-2 draw with Aldershot means it would take a scoreline of record proportions to even give Mark Wright's Chester a chance of overtaking the Mariners.

And Newell, who took over at Blundell Park in October following a disastrous start to the season, wants to see a different outcome next time around.

"We will start looking at things this week now we know what division we'll be playing in," he told the Grimsby Telegraph.

"Not a lot of the players we have brought in are ours and a lot will depend on whether we can sign them permanently. If not we will have to replace them with equally good players.

"There's not much between the teams in this division from what I've seen since I've been at the club. We've not been thumped by anybody. We lost early on in my time heavily at Dagenham, it was just an awful start to the season to recover from. Not winning a game until November meant we were always going to be up against it."
