Striker crisis for Town boss

Nathan Jarman and Adrian Forbes were already out for around a month before Akpa Akpro suffered the problem in the 4-0 home defeat to Crewe. Jarman has broken a bone in his foot while summer signing Forbes underwent knee surgery at the end of last week. Midfielder Peter Sweeney could be restored to the starting line-up after his surprise omission against the Railwaymen, while on-loan goalkeeper Tommy Forecast should keep his place with Nick Colgan still struggling with a groin injury. Grimsby lie bottom of the table after defeats in their opening two matches but Newell is unperturbed. "We've got new players in the side, but maybe we haven't got the right balance yet. Maybe we haven't picked the right team yet, which is my responsibility," said the Liverpudlian. "But at the end of the day, we're only one week into the season and it is far too early to be pushing panic buttons."
